Problem with splitting my work week up into 4-5 hour days Monday – Friday, and 8-10 hour days on Saturday – Sunday is that the week never seems to end. It’s just a blur of baby, errands, and work.
Luckily, I love my work. Otherwise, I’d be miserable right now.
Here’s what my typical weekday has been like this past month:
- Wake up sometime between 6 and 7 am, depending on when Dash decides that he’s up for the day. Jessa usually wakes up a little bit before me and feeds him and gets ready for school.
- Jessa leaves for work at 7.
- I take Dash into the kitchen, put him in a chair somewhere, and start making breakfast and cleaning the kitchen and house.
- Generally, Dash gets hungry at 8 or so, so I feed him.
- Then Dash gets sleepy, so he goes down for a 45 – 60 minute nap. During naptime, I either also take a nap (if I’m sick), or I do other house things.
- If Dash doesn’t look sleepy, then I take him in the shower with me and we get all clean.
- By now, it’s around 10 or 11. We play and read a book.
- He might want one more nap. Depends.
- Someone else comes between noon and one to take over the Dash-watching duties.
- If I have a meeting downtown, I hop in the car and go downtown. Otherwise, I close the door to my office and work in there until 7 pm or so.
- Between 7 and 8, we eat dinner. Maybe watch part of a movie or a TV show.
- Bedtime!
On weekends, since I don’t get much of a chance to work during the week, I try to get in at least 10 hours of solid work in over those two days.
