Holy crap does Starbucks put a lot of caffeine in their coffee. http://www.cspinet.org/nah/caffeine/caffeine_corner.htm
Their plain coffee has so much caffeine… I don’t think that page is right. That seems a little high.
But man, I am hyper at 6 in the morning!
So, you invite 150 people to your wedding. Dinner costs $20 a head. That’s $3,000. And drinks and stuff adds up to another $2,000 or so. $5,000 down the drain.
How come you can’t charge each guest $25 to cover their food/drinks? I’d gladly pay that much, to save their family from that expense. I’m probably already paying a couple hundred for a plane ticket or something.
Some people say it’s “tradition” to cover all expenses. It’s also “tradition” to smack your wife when she talks back. Doesn’t work so well, does it?
I think I went through (or am going through) a quarter-life crisis. First time I’d heard of those to.
The solution: go outside more. The problem: I don’t like being uncomfortable. It rains a lot, my feet hurt, I get cold or hot. I’m just a huge baby.
So, I decided to do it right and buy all the proper outside backpacking and hiking gear. So far, I’ve got:
- an internal frame backpack
- backpacking shoes
- the socks (liner and outside)
- water purifier
- couple more nalgene bottles
- first aid kit—has a ton of stuff in it
- water-proof matches and those firecubes things
- rain coat and pants
- long fancy underwear
- fancy boxers
- poly/nylon pants
- water-proof ponchos
- two whistle/compass combinations
- bear-proof food container
And we already have car camping stuff, like tents, sleeping pads and bags, etc.
Hopefully having the right stuff will let me enjoy hiking and camping and being outside more.
I wonder how cats purr. Do they have a special purring organ? Why do they do it? And why don’t other mammals do it?
And did you know that humans are mammals? That’s what you learn in first grade!
Two people so far have contributed to my beer fund. I need more beer. Get on it people! Click the link on the right to do it. Credit cards and paypal accepted!
If you don’t want (yet) to contribute to my fund, what can I do for you to contribute? More content? More pictures?
It’s a beautiful weekend in Seattle. All sunny. Supposed to get up to 88 degrees. I woke up at 7 and went to the neighborhood coffee shop. $1 coffee rules with free refills rules. I’m finishing up some consulting work here with the laptop in the sun outside on a chair in the sun. It’s very nice. I might go inside and sit on the couch, my butt’s getting sore.
In about two hours, I’ll walk home, then go to the gym. Then I’ll stop by the friendly neighborhood pool to get a little bit of sun on my pasty skin and check out all the hot babes. I know there’s one hot babe there, at least.
Then… I’ll probably go to REI and check out some camping gear. I’d like to get one of those backpacking backpacks. An example usage of it: I’d like to fly down to Vegas, spend a couple nights there, then go to the Grand Canyon and camp down by the river for a night or so. I’d like luggage that would be suitable for both those trips.
After that, back to the pool for dinner and another swim. And then the house needs cleaning. It’s a “mess”, as Jessa puts it. I prefer to say “stuff needs to be put away”. Each to their own.
The cat threw up a few times yesterday. :-( Poor kitty. I guess I gave her too much steak. She really likes steak, but I shouldn’t give her very much. Her kitty tummy is tiny!
I think this is all that needs to be said.
Camping rules. I’m going to Eastern Washington for a week. I’m going to do absolutely nothing but sit on my ass.
