No more beards for me. It’s all about the mustache.
Too bad my wife hates me now. :(
It’s nice to finish something. I’ve been working on CISV University for a little bit, and it’s just about done, as far as I know. I’m not responsible for how the site looks, so take your praise (or complaints :-) elsewhere.
It’s written in the Ruby programming language using the Ruby on Rails web framework, and it was a pretty easy, fun, and straightforward job. Rails is a joy to use.
Bonus day is always a good day. My checking account is happy.
Haven’t blogged for a while, apparently. So here you go Chris, a fantastic blog entry!
Maybe a year ago, Jessa brought home a balloon for some reason. My cat attacks and chases imaginary things a couple times a day, so I thought she’d have fun if I tied the balloon string to her hind leg.
Oh, was I wrong.
She completely freaked out and starting tearing around the house. Completely freaked out. She couldn’t stop moving. She ran behind the couch and pulled the balloon after her. The balloon popped and I think that set her off even more. She eventually calmed down but acted weird for the rest of the day.
It was Jessa’s birthday a couple days ago, so I brought her a big ‘happy birthday’ balloon when I picked her up from school. When she walked in the door with the balloon, the cat took one look at the balloon and ran into the bedroom and dove underneath our bed. When she came out to eat, she’d take a few bites, then look around for the balloon so she could make sure that it wasn’t sneaking up on her.
Poor kitty girl. I know now not to bring any more balloons of kitty doom into the house!
For those that don’t know, my wife’s ‘90 subaru loyale was stolen in October. We received a phone call at 5 am this morning from the police informing us that they found the car. And this is a day or two before we’re finalizing stuff with the insurance and getting money for the car.
She’s all sad now, because she was excited about getting a new car. :-(
Well, waiting for this stuff to build. Here’s my current display dimensions:
screen #0:

dimensions: 4480x1200 pixels (1222x331 millimeters) resolution: 93x92 dots per inch
I need another monitor though. :( One more would be perfect. Then I’d be able to have one monitor for a terminal, one window for gvim, one window for running applications, and one window for email and IM. That would be sweet. Although, if I had 5, the fifth one would be for web browsing. Then I wouldn’t need to switch desktops at all.
Girl out-wrestles boy.
Why do programmers get Halloween confused with Christmas?
Because oct31 is the same as dec25
Wow, I never thought that much about the consequences of drinking bottled water (I rarely drink bottled water, unless I’m on a trip), but man, looks like it’s causing lots of bad things.
Stupid referees. Seahawks should’ve won. :-(
For some reason, when I listen to music while at work, I get a lot more work done. I don’t get distracted as easy. And I enjoy work more.
I have no idea why that is. Do other people experience this?
I got paid yesterday for hitting panels off a 30 foot dome with a large orange sledgehammer. It was really fun. Quite a break from writing software.
My Windows computer burst into flames a few days ago at work. I went to get some water. When I came back, smoke was pouring out the back of the computer like crazy. I disconnected the power to the computer as fast as I could, but I still inhaled a lot of smoke.
And they still haven’t fixed it yet. :( This reminds of of that time when I plugged a mouse into a computer and fried it completely. I have bad luck when it comes to computers.
I wish I had some cool fancy desk at work that would prevent me from getting RSI. My hands are starting to ache again. :-(
Did you know that you can type in a UPS tracking number into Google and it’ll take you to the UPS tracking site for that number?
That’s really cool.
